The Sierra Vista Diamonds finish 2017 with a bang! The Sierra Vista Diamonds U14 Fast-pitch softball team competed in the Feliz Navidad tournament in Phoenix AZ, 10-11 December 2016 with 29 other U14 Teams. During Saturday’s Pool play the Diamonds played tough winning games against the Shockwave 8-7 and AZ Excel 11-1. Next up was the AZ Suncats who blew through their pool play winning 15-0 and 12-1. Our girls played tough in the 3rd game against these AZ Suncats losing 10-11 in the final inning. Throughout Pool play our girls attitudes were great, bats were hot and defense strong. Our tough play during pool play earned us a bye in Sundays single elimination contest. Our first game Sunday was against a tough AZ Crush team. We had a bad first inning which allowed the Crush to score 5 runs. Our girls battled back throughout the next four innings, but eventually lost 7-4. We are proud of our Diamonds and the great attitudes and the hard work demonstrated by each girl.
Special thanks to Ms. Kenzie Shaw as she moves on to U16 and future being a Buena High School Colt! We will miss you! Great pitching, first base and especially great attitude…. Kenzie has always come ready to play “anywhere” to support the team!
Lastly, special thanks to coaches Kenda, Bruce, Steve, John and Kelly for a great softball year. Our girls improved so much because of you all. Have a safe and relaxing holiday season. We are ready for 2017!
